Wow! I blinked and it was gone!

The second weekend in July we flew to Southern California to spend some time with Camille and her family. On Sat. we went down to thebeach (Corona del Mar), by way of and In and Out Burger place, Laguna Beach, and Newport Beach, which I believe you can see in the pictures below on the far right. The beach was sooo crowded and hot and seaweedy. The view was incredible, the colors were amazing. We had a great time. Thanks Camille and Jack for taking us.

Below grandpa waving to us.

the boyz of summer (as I like to call them).

Alex

Jack, the day before his farewell and three days before the MTC.

Miles

And Zack.

Look at the colors out in the ocean. It was so cool!

We made them stop grubbing around for sand crabs? and pose for a picture.

Good looking guys. I love all the hair styles.

Leah at home with the kitty. they are getting very used to her. They still don't like her too much.
Third weekend spent in Castle Dale with the newly returned missionary Whitney.

Lily my little sweet snoozer at Grandpa J's house.

After the shower such happiness and such curls in her hair.

Yikes! You scared me.

Leah and Zack at the Pioneer Day Parade. Leah was into gathering taffy and eating it.

Grandpa came with chocolate milk.

some fun floats.

Chocolate milk tastes best on a hot day in the sun.

This was a great float bu Broulim's supermarket.

This was thefirstplace winner.

Today I showed Leah how snapdragons work. She didn't get it.

In the garden in front of the corn.

such a sweet little face.

Click on this to get a better view of the roses, dark hollyhocks, and the delphiniums. Gorgeous.

And then we had a tea party!
Getting ready. . . she sort of had an idea what was happening.

She got very excited when I brought out these darling little spoons.

Oh, such a happy little tea drinker.

We had graham craker with frosting, and bread with humuus, peppermint tea, sugar, and milk. and the cutest cups and saucers and a pansy tablecloth.

When we got everything on the table she sat down and folded her arms for the prayer, so of course we stopped and asked a blessing on our tea party. And everything tasted great.

Lily at the party.

Very milky tea.

Leah loved all of it, even the humuus.

And then Figaro joined us for a little bit.

Then we stacked our cups and saucers . . . .

And we went inside.
And soon July will be over and it has gone way to fast for me. The fields are starting to turn and the weather has cooled slightly, a sure sign that harvest is coming and our lazy summer days will soon be over.

Lots of Fives!

I'm making my list of fives. According to Sara, the list can be " 5 things to do or not to do or to enjoy or to partake of or whatever the heck you feel like. " So I will also make a list of things I like not to do.

But first, Happy 4th of July Everyone!
and in homor of that, here is a list of FIVE cool and fun things to do tomorrow.

#1. Fly your own flag and then early in the morning go out and pledge allegiance to it.

#2. Decorate a bike and ride it in your local parade.

#3. Listen to the patriotic songs on this CD. My favorite is Battle Hymn of the Republic.
While you're at it, do any of you know all four verses of our National Anthem?

#4. Make a flag cake using raspberries or strawberries and blueberries and lots of yummy frosting.

#5. End the day by going to see some fireworks and do some of your own too!

List of quotes from some of my favorite movies
#1 LONESOME DOVE. One of the best movies/books ever. Love the witty banter between McCrae and Call/Spoon/Pea Eye. etc.
1. Well , the first man comes along that can read Latin is welcome to rob us, far as I'm concerned. I'd like a chance t' shoot at a educated man once in my life.
2. What do you want legs for anyway? You don't like to do nothing but sit on the porch and drink whiskey!
3. I'm just tryin' to keep everything in balance, Woodrow. You do more work than you got to, so it's my obligation to do less.
4. I hate rude behavior in a man. I won't tolerate it.
5. Well we don't rent pigs and I figure it's better to say it right out front because a man that does like to rent pigs is... he's hard to stop.

#2. OH BROTHER, WHERE ART THOU? This movie is full of great quotes - it was hard for me to pick just five.

1. Well, ain't this place a geographical oddity. Two weeks from everywhere!

2. The color guard is colored!

3. Wouldn't we look like a bunch of Johnny-come-latelies, bragging on our own midget, doesn't matter how stumpy.

4. Say, any of you boys smithies? Or, if not smithies per se, were you otherwise trained in the metallurgic arts before straitened circumstances forced you into a life of aimless wanderin'?
5. Oh, George... not the livestock.

#3. THE THREE AMIGOS - too silly for words!

1. Do you have anything here besides Mexican food?
2. Look up here!
3. Do you know what "nada" means? Isn't that a light chicken gravy?
4. What are we even doing in Mexico?
5. Oh great! Real Bullets!

#4. THE GREAT RACE - I now have this movie as part ofmy personal DVD collection (Thanks to Lizzy and Dennis).

1. You rise! You shine!

2. I ain't no native, I was born here!

3. umm... brandy! Throw more brandy, throw brandy! More brandy! Brandy!

1. You seem a decent fellow. I hate to kill you.
2. Have fun stormin' da castle.
3. You only think I guessed wrong! That's what's so funny! I switched glasses when your back was turned! Ha ha! You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well-known is this: never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha...
4. Sonny, true love is the greatest thing, in the world-except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe.
5. And wuv, twu wuv, will fowow you foweva... So tweasha your wuv.
