We've been busy these last two weeks with harvest. When the nights started to get near freezing alan suggested that I dig up some of the tomatoes and bring them indoors to the sunroom. so I did. We're hoping to extend the life of these four plants so that we will have tomatoes a little longer than usual. the watering gets a little crazy. But so far it's working. the plants are wilting slowly, but we saved them from the frost.
My yellow tomato plant.
I have three good sized early girl plants that are in the sunroom.
My curing onions. This will be enough for the whole year. I got an excellent crop of white onions. The first time I have ever grown whites. They are the huge ones. Somehow I got one red onion. It grew up with the white and yellow ones and does not feel any racial prejudice. it has always been accepted by its brothers and sisters.
Are these not the most beautiful sunflowers?
This is my autumn sedum. The pink is really nice.
I love the look of the corn tassels against the dark sky.
Yum. I picked these and was going to make a pie, but we ate most of them before I could do it.
My jalepeno peppers. Kris says these are not jalepenos, but they are pretty fiery hot, and I do believe that I planted jalepenos.
Veggie man. One of my cabbages. I wated to show how big the head was on this cabbage. so look at the glasses to see.
I gathered all these delicious vegetables together and what do you think I got?
15 1/2 pints of Salsa! Aie, carumba!
I also had my own little peach days. This is the parade of the peaches.

It reminds me of that line in the Thanksgiving hymn, "all the harvest safely gathered in." We just finished conference and I could see the rain as the cameras were taking some closing shots. It's been cooler here, but no frosts as of yet. Soon Maurie and Seth will be leaving for the Priesthood session. Rachel and I usually do girls night out, but we are paracticing a considered frugality and we will stay home tonight and watch a good movie. I hope the tomatoes last and last. Your sunflowers are beautiful, and your men are filthy. I'm glad your harvest has been completed for one more year and that you can have a spell of calm.
So about saving the tomatoes. I was told that you could just cut the vines and leave them on and put them in a paper bag and put them in the garage or basement. I hope to save mine this way. I have many that are yet to turn red and I want to still make more salsa. I too love the sunflowers. You always have great flowers. It was great to talk to you tonight. Looking forward to seeing you in a few weeks.
I wish we could have all come to help with your peaches. We are all very good at doing it these days. Yikes, I think you need an industrial strength washer!
I kept meaning to call you this weekend but I just never got the chance. I really enjoyed conference and wish we had one more day of it. The sunflowers are amazing, such a beautiful vibrant color. Ian and Julie stopped by on Saturday night. I was showing them the pictures that you took of harvest and they were amazed and wanted to know what kind of a camera you had. I knew it was a nikon but I didn't know what model. Anyways if anyone needs a camera like yours it's Julie. I also wanted to know if you guys have a tripod. I will be measuring leah today after school at Sara's because I don't have a measuring tape and neither does Stacy. I know crazy. Plus Sara wants to show me the quilt top for Miranda's quilt. Well, now that I have my camera back I will be posting some pictures of recent happenings.
Okay so for the measurements:
Neck to ankle- 22in
Neck to wrist- 9.5in
Face-18 in
Waist to ankle- 13in
Inseam- 7.5in
Waist to crotch-6.5in
Neck to crotch?-14in

I hope I got what you wanted let me know if I missed one.
I'm glad that harvest is pretty well over for you guys--it's a busy season! I remember helping with spud harvest and I really did enjoy it as a kid (sorting potatoes). I can't wait until I have a place where I can have a nice garden so I can make salsa, soup base, canned beans, etc. I remember doing that with my mom. It was a pain at the time, but we really did enjoy the outcome!
