Signs of Spring

Pictures taken Today. I suppose we still are a few weeks away from farming the fields in Ashton.

Finaly some green showing And the first flowerCustom Farming
Bracken and Me drilling grain at Picabo, ID (just about 35 minutes south East from Sun Valley)Probably the nicest area for scenery we have farmed except for the Squirrel area in Ashton

Bracken unloading extra seed from the seed tanks into a truck. These tanks will hold 270 bu. of seed, which is the amount of a single axel dump truck. This can keep us going for 120 to 190 acres before refilling depending on seeding rates.

I was excited for you guys to see your first signs of spring with the hyacinth. By the way what is a bu in regards to your seed tank volume? I am thinking of a new hobby. I might take up some custom farming myself.
Am I correct in saying that bu stands for bushel? Just a guess.... I am glad that spring has finally sprung.... it does look like there is a little more to go though. Looks like dad is doing well with the custom farming! What I want to know is what makes that area so nice? It looks really brown. :)
Is Bracken the new guy who took over helping you all?
Bu is bushels and Bracken is Trevor's older brother, who runs our tractor with Alan in
southern Idaho. He lives in Rexburg, is married with 3 or 4 little ones, but feels the need to drive big rigs. You know, these farmers have to be very technologically savvy. Everything is computerized in tractors these days. The GPS system is whole other system itself. As you can tell, these Idaho farm boys know a lot more about farming than Clark Kent. Huh!, Clark Kent, who can't even get his tractor fixed.
I know, the scenery isn't all that beautiful, but, where this area is, is so much better to look at than what you see in southern Idaho. Have you ever been through Burley, Rupert, Jerome, Twin Falls areas? Absolutely Nothing worth looking at. It is so flat and especially when you're planting, it is brown forever. So the mountains in the Picabo area were a change for the better considering these two farmers are used to farming in beautiful Squirrel Idaho. Picabo is where Picabo Street is from. You know the downhill skier.
I'm glad that the snow is finally melting for you up there. It has been really nice here in Pocatello these last few days. I have been able to wear my capris again and I am excited about that! It is weird seeing a picture of Bracken--I haven't seen him for years and years and years it seems.
yes, i detect definite signs of spring in your photos. how heartening. i have daffodils, but no tulips yet, unlike sara. i haven't planted anything yet, but dennis has the ground all ready so i will be planting soon. i miss having someone who likes to garden for moral support (like whitney or grandpa) it's been a little tough to make myself get out there alone.
After a long, snowy winter I bet its nice to see a little color! We don't get the snow over here, so I get excited when a little patch of blue sky peaks through the clouds!!
Jim is nervous about the fireworks, maybe we had better have them in C.D.
