I wanted to post some more pictures of my gardening efforts. Here is my very first-grown cauliflower. It was self-blanching so I didn't have to tie the leaves up. I say WAS, because we ate it and it was delicious. It was made into a casserole thingy. Very tender and tasted just like cauliflower. Imagine that.
I am waiting for its sister to get ripe which is right next to it. I have a different dish planned for it.
This is my garden five days ago and it has grown quite a bit since then. I have used a lot of lettuce, spinach, broccoli and onions. All cold weather crops. And the peas are ready up on the Habekost place. I already have heard from a lady that I visit teach that they are delicious. I'm glad she told me, because Alan didn't. I may go up on Friday and pick some and make peas and potatoes. I always think that it is too hot to eat peas and potatoes in July and August, but it is so good.
Here is a picture of the lone blossom that bloomed from my two salmon poppy plants. I can't wait til next year and there will be more of these. It was beautiful.
The delphiniums are gorgeous and even more full and lovely than they were when I took this picture. The stems that look like they have nothing on them are in fact white delphiniums and are blossoming now. Dark blue, light blue and white blossoms all together.
These are my favorite dianthus plants. I bought these the year Morgan and Andrew were married and they continue to grow and get lovlier and lovlier. I hope Morgan and Andrew can say the same.
This is my beautiful clematis. Grandma Baum (Luella) planted this and tended it like it was a baby. One of the only plants that she really doted on. It hasn't done as well for me, but I'm learning to dote on it, so it will bloom as profusely as it did for her.
My newest flower love. I have never planted Zinnias before, but I must say they are going to be a staple in my garden from now on. I love Zinnias!
A view of the front of the fence where you see I have planted the Zinnias. These are crimson, lime, yellow, orange, and pink. They are so colorful against the white fence. I have to go out and look at them at least 2 to 3 times a day. I can't stop looking at them.
This next picture is a clever little idea that Alan had to fool Morgan into believing that this was the instrument that is coming to her condo. I don't know why he thinks she would be getting an organ. Alan has an obscure sense of humor sometimes.
Neither is this the piano.
This is the piano. Enjoy it Morgan. I just needed to know that you had something to play after going through all those piano lessons. They have paid off because you are a good piano player, and now you have something to practice on. Andrew will enjoy it too, but remember it is yours because you earned it. It is yours with much love.

Your garden in beautiful, and that was such a sweet post about Morgan and the piano!
So I couldn't sleep at all last night, either because of Leah or because the excitement of getting my own piano. I have decided not to tell Andrew and it will be a surprise to him. I'm still waiting for the guy to come and deliver it. I"m so glad you posted a picture because I have rearranged my furniture so that there is a perfect place for it and now that I see it I think that it will just barely fit! I love that it is that dark wood color. It has so many gadgets and cool stuff on it I'm very excited! It's funny because it has been something that I have had to keep putting out of my mind and had to say, "not until I have a house." But it's on it's way right now and I'm really excited, I have been thinking about it all week. I wonder what Andrew will say, he is always surprising me so it's my turn to surprise him. How exciting! Thank you thank you thank you thank you! It is something that I have wished for and wanted for a long time, (okay probably just in the past 10 years but still) :) Believe me this piano will get USED! By hopefully all of us, that includes little Leah. I'll put a post up after it gets here.
Your garden and your flowers are beautiful! I can't wait until we get more settled so that I can have a place to plant a garden and lots and lots of flowers and big trees! I do love where we live now, but I can't wait until we get a place more in the country...wherever we end up. I am excited for Morgan to get her piano--that is exciting! I was so excited when Kenny's parents gave us their old piano, and then we refinished it so it looks really nice. We just need to get it tuned--it really is out of tune, but still fun to play. Thanks for the memory by the way. I remember going to Cherry Hill once or twice and it was a lot of fun, but I don't remember specifically having trouble with Julie, Ryan and Morgan. But thanks for sticking up for me, I'm sure I appreciated it back then! :-)
I am so jealous of your delphiniums. Mine did not do so hot. I think they like your climate over mine. And I love the salmon poppy. I miss mine so from the old house. I need to get some seeds and get some in this yard. Are you and Lizzy having fun.
