My Hike to Inspiration Point

Pictures of my hike round Jenny Lake and up to Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point.

Beautiful, and very inspiring. It gave me the inspiration to eat lunch.
Last week I was invited by the 4th ward RS activity group ladies to join them on a hike to Jenny Lake for today. So this morning we left Squirrel, because most of the4th ward hiker-ladies live out that way, and we drove over to Jackson Hole and up into the Grand Teton Park (cost $25) and then to Jenny Lake. We hiked on the trail that goes along the south shore of the lake and around until we got to the west side of the lake. We got there about 9:30 and already there were many hikers. I have never seen it as busy as it was today. There were so many people there it may as well have been Christmas time at one of the malls. It was beautiful despite the population density and I was truly enjoying myself as we hiked through some enormous spruce and over some big rocks. Our goal was to make it to Inspiration Point and see Hidden Falls on the way. The whole hike was approximately 4-5 miles. I stopped to take a few pics with Zack's camera and found that the memory card was full of video, so I didn't get any pictures, but the above pictures are ones that others have taken. There was a chipmunk (no picture) that stole my baggie of peanuts while we were eating lunch. He took off with the whole bag and scattered peanuts for about 8 feet. He was cute but very aggressive. We rode the boat back across the lake and then we came home. We didn't even stop at my favorite eating place (Bubbas). It was a fun day, but I'm tired and glad to be home. Hiking 5 miles up a steep trail is not the same as walking 5 miles on flat farm roads.
Tomorrow is the pioneer day celebration in St. Anthony. We will go to the parade and then come home. Alan and the Farm Bureau board members are passing out chocolate milk. They have ordered 12,000 cup size containers. They will be very popular and Alan figures they need about 10 men to go along to pass them out. So, that should be entertaining.

I really like those pictures, looks like it was a beautiful hike! I'm glad you went out and did it with your 4th ward friends. The Fauver's came up and they are coming to go swimming here in a little while. It should be fun! So I found a really good website that is free that tracks your food intake and exercise you can check out the link on my blog (fun links). I think it's pretty cool so anyways.... check it out!

Yes we had one of those hikes at girls camp. Straight up for 2 miles. It was a killer but I was glad that I was able to accomplish it. When I was doing it I was wising the terrain was flat. Much easier.

So you took your own little pioneer trek around Jenny Lake? That's a good way to celebrate the 24th of July. I'm curious about the DUP float for the parade in St Anthony. The summer seems to be going so fast. Rachel wept this morning because she turned 18 and her summer is almost over and she hasn't done anything fun yet. Poor Girl! Her mother is not very sympathetic. Seth's summer is even shorter. He is back in classes on the 20th.
